What can you expect?

There are 4 stages to the process:

The beginning, the middle, the follow-up and the end. Therapy starts from your first call to the therapist. Note that the therapist can work on only 1 presenting problem at a time so as client, you need to prioritize and decide on the problem that you would like to address first.

Stage 1- The Beginning

Is also known as the interview stage. At Asiahypnosis this would be a mini-psychotherapy cum counselling session. The purpose here is to discover the root cause of your presenting problem. Some client actually response so well at this stage that they do not need further intervention! The purpose for finding the root cause is based on our belief that if we remove the root, we then permanently solve the issue but if we remove the symptoms caused by the root, then the issue will crop up again perhaps in the same form or in another form.

One example of this is with trauma. If we remove the symptoms which can range from anti-social behavior to cancer without addressing the root cause of the symptoms which is due to the trauma, naturally the symptoms will re-appear in the future producing a (usually) negative pattern in the client's life.

Stage 2- The Middle

Is where therapy occurs in the form of hypnosis and other related therapeutic modalities. At Asiahypnosis we personalize the treatment to the client's needs and presenting problem in the belief that whatever works best to get the client back into a healthy pattern, we will use it. This is also in line with one of our core belief which is to focus on achieving the best and safest results as quick as possible with as little disruption as possible to the client's life. As we have mentioned, hypnotherapy unlike counseling and psychotherapy is not a long term treatment. Life is short and it should be about living and enjoying and not about therapy or therapies.

There are 3 basic stages to a hypnotherapy session: Induction, Suggestion and Awakening. All these stages flows one into another seamlessly. The basic purpose of induction is to help you relax and once you are relaxed to slow your brainwave pattern down to an alpha-wave pattern. The alpha-wave pattern is commonly known as the hypnotic state. We all react differently to the hypnotic state and depending on how fast your body and mind can relax, this stage can be as short as a minute, to as long as 15 minutes. Next, is the suggestion stage. This is when the hypnotherapist remove from your mind, old negative programming and replace it with new, more positive programming. Finally, the last stage which is called the awakening. The purpose here is to slowly and gently bring your brainwave pattern up from alpha and below, back up towards beta (the conscious state).

Stage 3- The Follow-up

Is when you wait for the new behavior pattern to turn into a habit. At Asiahypnosis, we insist on a 21-days monitoring period where as client, you must call in regularly and give your therapist an update on your condition and progress. Here is also where the therapist will determine if you need reinforcements or adjustments.

Stage 4- The End

This ends your therapy session. You have either obtained the results you want or have discovered that hypnotherapy may not have worked for you. It also signals the end of your relationship with your therapist. The therapist will help you adjust and manage the loss of the therapeutic relationship, as required or if necessary. The therapist will also use this opportunity to reinforce what have been achieved. You are now a new person, with a new set of behavior, attitude and mindset. Congratulations!

For some clients, once one presenting problem is solved, they may want to work on another. This is a good opportunity to discuss further treatment with your therapist.
