About Clinical Hypnotherapy
Do I need hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a safe and non-invasive treatment that heals the mind and in doing so, heals the whole being. This is a no nonsense results-oriented treatment method that focuses on the root causes of the disease, ailments, trauma and/or pains. It is also very time and cost effective and perfect for those seeking a fast relief. For some presenting problems such as smoking, it often requires only 1 session to eliminate the addiction. For other more serious ailments, usually no more than 10 sessions are needed. Regardless of your ailments or issues, you will know by the 3rd session if hypnotherapy is a suitable treatment for your presenting problem.
There are no gray areas in this form of therapy. You either respond to the treatment or you do not respond to it. This form of treatment does not rely on slowly weaning a person off their habits or addictions, it seeks a drastic, permanent cure. In hypnosis, there are no part-time smokers, you are either a smoker or you are not. Similarly, you either feel better or not but this treatment will not be making you feel worse.
Most of the time people will try everything else before they try hypnotherapy. A study has shown that roughly 90% of the people who tried hypnotherapy as a treatment have previously tried other forms of therapies and failed. Hypnotherapy is not a cure all panacea but if you fall into this category of people, there is no harm left in trying hypnotherapy. Like all treatments, it is best applied before the problem becomes chronic but it has been known to provide relief to patients suffering from a wide variety of ailments.
The non-invasive, drug-free nature of hypnotherapy make it one of the safest and most effective psychological and behavioral modification techniques known today. Talk to a qualified clinical hypnotherapist to get an idea of the possibilities.
It seems miraculous, how does it work?
The speed with which this form of therapy 'cures' an ailment may
appear miraculous but it is has a sound scientific basis. A hypnotherapist
must have a good background and knowledge of the mind, body and spirit.
Hypnotherapy goes down to the root of our mind to bring about a
transformation by modifying our behavior, emotional content and attitudes.
It is often said that 70% of all diseases and ailments are psychosomatic
in nature and by eliminating or healing the roots of the problem, the
whole being can benefit from it. This is a life transforming treatment
that has proven to be effective for a wide range of conditions including:
- - All psycho-somatic disorders and diseases,
- - Dysfunctional habits, behavior and attitude,
- - Negative self-image eg. self hate.
- - Insomnia,
- - Phobias,
- - Obesity,
- - Addictions eg. smoking, drugs, sex etc.

How does it feel like to be hypnotized?
It feels wonderfully relaxing. 20 minutes of hypnotic relaxation is equivalent to 5 hours of quality sleep. 90% of those who have experienced hypnosis, described it as being alert but motionless; being awake but not bothered about anything; being awake but focused inward or able to listen to everything but unable to eaily move; alert but at the same time, feel sluggish. Everybody in hypnosis experience what is known as time distortion. Time appear to have slowed and the 1 hour session may feel like 10 minutes.
Our brainwaves are not static in nature, it fluctuates all the time and because of this fluctuation, you will feel as if you are going in and out of a slumber. Recall a time, when you were napping in front of the TV or while listening to the radio, after awhile you are no longer paying attention to the noise from the TV or the radio, you can still hear the sounds from those equipments, but you are no longer consciously processing those sounds... you are deep in a hypnotic state, deep in what is known as an alpha-trance.
You enter this trance state all the time, many times in a day... your brain automatically enter this state when you are driving, watching TV, listening to the radio in the background, reading a book, concentrating on a task... anytime, that you are "in the zone," you are in an alpha state. This is the state that high performance athletes try to enter into each time they want to perform at their best.
Everybody can be hypnotized. If you can watch TV, drive a car or go to sleep, you can be hypnotized.
However, amongst us there is a smaller group of people that are called "sonambulistic." These are
people who can enter into the deepest level of trance naturally without any training. For most of us,
we have to train ourselves over many years to enter into this state of deep trance but for a small
percentage of people, they can naturally enter into this state via hypnosis and tap their innermost
resources at will. These are the luckiest people in the world because they can achieve
"miracles" with their mind alone. They can experience miraculous remission of cancer; heal their own
bones; control their blood pressure; undergo surgery without anaesthesia and so forth. Find out if you
are one of these lucky people and if you are, the world is truly your oyster.
Is it really safe?
As of today, there are no documented and verifiable case of anyone who have been hurt or who have died in a clinical hypnotic session. Clinical hypnotherapists are trained to control the hypnotic session. Hypnosis is not harmful. It is not dangerous. There were a few cases, in the 1950s and 60s where volunteers have been hurt during stage hypnosis performances. The injuries are minor and it happens when they fall off the chair or slipped on the floor. Today, stage performers are more vigilant, more careful and accidents are now very rare.
Hypnosis is a natural state of the mind. A state that we naturally enter into many times
in a day. It is that state of mind that helps us to be the best that we can be; to resolve
whatever issues that plague us; to heal ourselves. There are a lot of evidence these days
that our mind can affect us physically. It can for example, remove pain/replace anaesthesia
or cause remission in cancer patients. The role of the hypnotherapist is to help you enter
and stay in this state long enough for your goals to be attained.
